ASST

ASST - Architecture Students Soccer Tournament

Initiated & Organised by Celebrate Architecture, ASST brought together over 300 architecture students, teachers and officials from around the city to have a feast of football this monsoon.

Its commendable on the part of CA, being a non profit organization, to manage the whole event out of their own pocket to fund this non sponsored tournament. It was well supported by WIFA (Western India Football Association) and its General Secretary, Mr. Wali Mohammed in terms of Cooperage allotment.

The whole idea behind the event was to involve architectural students from all possible colleges around Mumbai in a healthy and spirited way of sport and what better it could have been than football in the monsoon. Eight architecture colleges took part in this event involving boys and girls. Participating colleges include Academy Of Architecture, Bharati Vidyapeeth's College Of Architecture, IES College of Architecture, Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture, Late Bahusaheb Hiray College of Architecture, Pillai College of Architecture, Rizvi College Of Architecture and Sir J.J. College of Architechture. Event took place in full swing at the Cooperage Grounds, Mumbai on 8th Aug 2009.

Day 1 saw JJ, Academy, Rizvi and KRVIA making it to the semi finals for boys, while PICA, Rizvi, LBH and KRVIA making it in the girls football. On the next day prominent architects Adarkar and Faizan Khatri came to support the students and CA for the event. Kamla Raheja defeated Rizvi in both the finals (girls and boys) to make a clean sweep in the first season of ASST. Students were awarded certificates, trophies and cash prizes by CA and this promises to grow bigger in future!
